US computer giant Hewlett-Packard announced on Wednesday that business services titan EDS, which it acquired a year ago, has been renamed HP Enterprise Services.

"The name change marks the next major step in a year-long integration of EDS into and emphasizes the growing global role of enterprise technology services in HP's portfolio," HP said in a statement.

HP also said its Technology Solutions Group, responsible for servers, storage, software, networking and technology services for businesses and government organizations, will be renamed the HP Enterprise Business.

HP bought Texas-based business services outsourcing giant EDS in August as part of a 13.9 billion dollar deal aimed at creating a global powerhouse in computer services to compete against IBM.
