Patton Electronics began shipping an analog phone adapter for Voice over Internet Protocol that the company says is the smallest on the market.

The customer-premise-equipment device will not only be easy for users to carry around as they travel, but will also trim shipping costs on large wholesale orders.

"Low price is just the beginning," said Burton Patton, executive vice president. "Our featherweight form factor means low freight charges. When you're sending VoIP CPEs to a hundred thousand customers, saving a buck or two on each box really adds up."

Patton will also be pitching customers with the adapter's tech support, remote configuration and free lifetime software upgrades that will keep the total cost of business VoIP service down.

"Total-cost-of-ownership is the key term here," Patton explained.
