Plantronics creates VoIP Bluetooth headset

Headset designer Plantronics has introduced the first Bluetooth headset optimized for Voice over Internet Protocol connectivity.

The Voyager 510-USB headset has a plug-and-play USB adapter that eliminates software setup requirements and allows users to place hands-free calls through any VoIP system while keeping both hands on the wheel.

"As communication needs become increasingly mobile, compatibility and flexibility across diverse networks and devices become critical," said Plantronics Vice President Chuck Yort.

The system will integrate with softphone software from Cisco, Nortel, Skype and other providers. It is compatible with Yahoo!, MSN and other VoIP providers.

The Voyager 510-USB carries a suggested retail price of $199 and will be available next month.
