Univ. of Delaware wrongly lauds 61 for admission

(AP) -- The University of Delaware is apologizing to dozens of applicants who were mistakenly congratulated for winning admission to the university.

A Web link to register for an event for admitted students was incorrectly made available on Friday to all applicants, whether they'd been accepted to the school or not. The link was viewed by 61 students who had been either waitlisted or denied admission.

When applicants clicked on the link, they were taken to a registration form that included the word "congratulations". Seventy-five students registered for the event online, including 12 who had been waitlisted or denied .
