The Kaspersky Top 20 for April

Kaspersky Labs' list of top e-mail and online threats has a newbie in the top spot.

Dlena.cb broke into the rankings last month and actually topped the charts. This an old family of malware, but not a problematic one until April.

Trojan spy programs have been dominant in recent months, but there is only one, ProAgent, in the April Top Twenty; This program will record all data entered via the keyboard, and though it's not as sophisticated as the Trojans that steal only bank account data, it is still relatively efficient and is popular among script kiddies.

Another interesting development is in Virtumonde, an adware program, currently at No. 5. This program has begun to incorporate rootkit technologies to give it a better lifespan on the system by making it harder to detect. It is being distributed using other real Trojan horse programs, including No. 7, INService.bl.
