Nokia lodges another complaint against Apple

(AP) -- Finnish cell phone maker Nokia Corp. said Friday it has filed another lawsuit against Apple Inc., this time extending its patent infringement claims to the new iPad.

Nokia has already filed complaints against Apple, charging that a broad swath of its products violate patents. Nokia said the disputed technology helps reduce the size and cost of electronic gadgets.

The company is filing its latest complaint in U.S. District Court in Madison, Wis. This time it is targeting the and the iPad 3G, the version of the device that can connect to the Web using cell phone networks. Nokia said the gadgets infringe on five patents related to technology that makes voice and data communications more efficient, allowing the devices to be more compact.

In a statement, Nokia executive Paul Melin said, "We have taken this step to protect the results of our pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia's ."

Apple did not immediately return a call for comment Friday.

stocks fell $10.27, or 4.2 percent, to $235.98 in midday trading Friday on a day of market turbulence following some of the most volatile trading in history Thursday afternoon.

You should nit forget that it was Apple who started the patent war with Nokia.
