Study reveals four new man-made gases in the atmosphere

Scientists at the University of East Anglia have identified four new man-made gases in the atmosphere – all of which are contributing to the destruction of the ozone layer.

New research published today in the journal Nature Geoscience reveals that more than 74,000 tonnes of three new chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and one new hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) have been released into the .

Scientists made the discovery by comparing today's air samples with air trapped in polar firn snow – which provides a century-old natural archive of the atmosphere. They also looked at air collected between 1978 and 2012 in unpolluted Tasmania.

Measurements show that all four new gases have been released into the atmosphere recently – and that two are significantly accumulating. Emission increases of this scale have not been seen for any other CFCs since controls were introduced during the 1990s. But they are nowhere near peak CFC emissions of the 1980s which reached around a million tonnes a year.

Lead researcher Dr Johannes Laube from UEA's School of Environmental Sciences said: "Our research has shown four gases that were not around in the atmosphere at all until the 1960s which suggests they are man-made."

"CFCs are the main cause of the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica. Laws to reduce and phase out CFCs came into force in 1989, followed by a total ban in 2010. This has resulted in successfully reducing the production of many of these compounds on a global scale. However, legislation loopholes still allow some usage for exempted purposes.

"The identification of these four new gases is very worrying as they will contribute to the destruction of the . We don't know where the new are being emitted from and this should be investigated. Possible sources include feedstock chemicals for insecticide production and solvents for cleaning electronic components.

"What's more, the three CFCs are being destroyed very slowly in the atmosphere – so even if emissions were to stop immediately, they will still be around for many decades to come," he added.

Previously unaccounted for or unseen gases present in the atmosphere now being acknowledged. The presence of the gases apparently extending back a half century or more. The gases being present to such an extent that they will not disappear and be around for a long time. And the extra advertised article that it is these gases and not carbon dioxide that is causing climate change.
How different is this from the statements I was making that weather control chemicals are being dumped from high flying jets, forming non dissipating vapor lanes in the sky, that it's been going on since the Fifties, that the concentration is so great the air is saturated and any new contributions precipitate out, and these chemicals, and not "fossil fuels" are causing climate change?

This is how the New World Order works. They won't suddenly reveal all the facets of their connivery, even the dull witted gullible who are the New World Order's target audience will be inspired not to truth the NWO. So they reveal a little at a time. Leave it long enough for the dullards to think they always knew that, that things always were that way, then add a new facet. By the time the whole truth comes out, the imbecilic will not realize how it differs from the way things used to be, they see it as just a slight change, so the New World Order can't be dangerous!

Human beings are always being portrayed as destroying the earth and the earth is fighting back (or going to fight back). Just watch any Hollywood apocalyptic movie ever made. I would say it is a cult if it were not so pervasive.

If new CFC's are being created and released, I would suspect the far east as the source. Electronics production would be the likely reason more than refrigeration.

An awful fact but a wonderful discovery!

I live in the east and it is quite apparent that there is little intention of decreasing or control of CFC emissions or any other emissions for that matter. The philosophy is 'Well the west did it so why can't we!' In addition to that sometimes their religous philosophy cares little about the future and only today is important and that's a difficult problem to crack. People have to be educated to change but if the basic part of that education is contrary to Earth science then those of us trying to re-educate are fighting a losing battle. Very sad but very true.

Why doesnt the article reveal these "mystery gases"? I think that China needs to try to be more environmentally aware. Just because its cheaper to pollute, you pay the price by poisoning your homeland in the process. Is it worth it?

Very different on two counts. You claim the source is jets, rather than the thousands of other possible sources: spray cans, cleaning agents, byproducts of chemical processing, etc. You also claim that there is a conspiracy, a intentional but clandestine effort to change climate. Short-sighted profit chasing and common goods problems seem far more common than conspiracies, so on purely statistical grounds they should be preferred explanation.

Human beings are always being portrayed as destroying the earth and the earth is fighting back (or going to fight back).

No humans don't destroy the Earth (the Earth doesn't care whether it's a lifeless ball or not). But we ARE destroying that which sustains us - and that is just plain stupid (given that we have no plan B).

Just because its cheaper to pollute, you pay the price by poisoning your homeland in the process. Is it worth it?

Because the few who profit immensely by the pollution can just go seomwhere else where it's nice...and the entire rest can rot inthe polluted remains. If everyone would profit/suffer equally you'd have a point. But it's only ever a few that profit and a lot who suffer.

This article says basically nothing of scientific value. It belongs on a political site...

There is no "far east"—it's the "near west" if you look behind you when facing east. We all breathe the same air, on the same planet under the same sun. Interesting that you mention electronics and refrigeration—the article quite specifically stated electronics and chemical pesticides.

I stumbled on the work of a forensic scientist, an expert in applied physics, a few days ago and would really like opinions from folks who aren't afraid to look at the bigger picture—and who know a few things about physics. The scientist is Dr. Judy Wood and in her professional analysis of various data from nine-eleven she identified what appears to be an example of the "Hutchison effect". See the video at the top of her website http://www.drjudywood.com/ The effect isn't mentioned till later in the video—the first part is about showing the data. Is the effect a fraud? To me it looks like KK-theory.

And the post is actually on-topic—note the mention of Hurricane Erin in the video that almost no one heard about.

late edit: that would be KK theory as in Kaluza-Klein, not "KK-theory" which is maths on K theory.
