Obama's victory photo most retweeted, shared ever

A person poses with a cell phone in front of a computer screen to check Barack Obama's tweet after his re-election as US president. A moving photo posted by Obama on his Twitter and Facebook pages just as TV networks announced his victory has made social media history as the most retweeted and shared ever.

A moving photo posted by President Barack Obama on his Twitter and Facebook pages just as TV networks announced his victory has made social media history as the most retweeted and shared ever.

The shot of a happy-looking Obama holding his wife in a loving embrace—captioned with the words "four more years"—had been retweeted over 650,200 times Wednesday morning and "liked" by 3.2 million people on Facebook.

Obama—who swept to re-election despite slow economic recovery and high unemployment—sealed his tech-savvy reputation Tuesday by announcing his win on social networks with the photo, hours before his victory speech.

"This photo is the most-liked Facebook photo of all time," the social network announced.

The tweet, meanwhile, broke the popularity record held by singer Justin Bieber, whose tribute to a fan who died of garnered a "mere" 200,000-plus retweets, according to AllTwitter, which tracks the social network.

The emotional victory proclamations posted on Obama's widely-followed social media accounts mark the culmination of a sophisticated, months-long campaign on the popular platforms.

Social networks emerged as key tools in the US presidential campaign, with both Obama and his Republican foe staging major pushes on Twitter, and others to draw in supporters and get them to vote.

But while Romney has increased his presence hugely on social media compared to 2008 Republican presidential candidate , Obama is seen as having retained the upper hand from his successful online campaign four years ago.

That will depend on how Obama and Bonner work out a compromise budget that will reduce the U.S. deficit and increase revenues.

Bonner has offered, and Obama sould accept, setting strong conditions, like refusing Republican Bonners new proposed tax cut for the wealthiest Americans, and Republican Bonner's new proposed tax hikes for the middle class.

Actually, it was ROMNEY who had the majority of the POPULAR vote. More people voted FOR Romney than for Obama. But Obama won only because of the Electoral College, which is the body that decides who is the winner in spite of majority of the popular vote.
Obama won the states with the larger populations, like California, NY, NJ, Virginia, etc. Because such states with a greater amount of population have many more electoral points than states with smaller populations, it is the Electorate that counts the points given to each state according to the number of states that the candidate won. In Obama's case, he received 303 points from the Electorate which was 33 points more than the required 270 to be declared winner. Even though more people voted for Romney, the states he won had a SMALLER number of points in all, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT AS HEAVILY POPULATED.
Basically, it is an unfair system and doesn't reflect the true will of the people, but it is part of the process.

Which is sort of weird because 46% of households don't pay income tax at all.

If you include payroll tax then that's only 17% who pay no taxes (but still means that the "at least 85%" value you cite is wrong)

And also note: That one party has the presidency does NOT mean that the other party is not represented. There are republicans in the Senate and the house of REPRESENTATIVES.

They could very well be right.

With Ronmey, the re-entry of the U.S. into a Grand Economic Depression was guaranteed. With Obama, it is only guaranteed if Republican Bonner is a complete traitor to his nation.

I'm looking at the chart. It seems to go up and down all the time anyhow. It went way up on Bush's housing froth, then started a huge collapse that started its turn around when Obama's stabilization policies started working. Austerity under Romney would have been it's own unique fiscal cliff plunge, but probably people are worried about the republican house hostage fiscal cliff. So what?

That is the concern. Are Republicans traitorus enough to finally push the U.S. economy into a Grand Economic Depression in their long term plan to destroy and dismantel America's social service programs?

"probably people are worried about the republican house hostage fiscal cliff." - Gary B

The Tea Tards are certainly Suicidal enough to do this. Many Republicans as well. Particularly those Republicans who stand with Grover Norquist in his Libertarian plan to "Starve the beast" of government at all costs.

In the next 3 months, American Conservatives will decide if they intend to destroy their own country or not. This is a decision they will have to make numerous times over the next few years.

Given that Republicans are the origin of America's fiscal desperation I see no reason to expect them to change their treasonous plans now that they are on the verge of destroying their own nation and declaring victory.

When you vote for Republican traitors, expect Republican treason.

It was only because 3 million REGISTERED REPUBLICANS were unable, for one reason or another, to get out and vote for Romney and Ryan. IF they had cast their 3,000,000 votes, it would have taken Romney/Ryan over the top to win the popular vote. Romney/Ryan needed only 2,668,940 more votes to break even with Obama, and anywhere from 2,668,941 to 3,000,000 votes to win the popular vote.

If those 3million Registered Republicans had gotten off their ass and voted, Romney/Ryan would have gotten a total of 60,375,450 total votes, which would have been 331,060 more than Obama/Biden.
They know who they are, and they know it is their fault...unless, that is, all 3 million had dropped dead prior to the election.

VDork believes that America will be better off with a Congenital Liar like Obama in the White House. While it is debatable that America will be better off, I do have to agree with VD that Obama is a congenital liar. The proof of it at present is the Benghazi murders where Obama lied multiple times (on the record) even to the United Nations assembly that the Benghazi murders happened because of an anti-Islamic video...and it took him 2 weeks to finally tell the truth that the murders were by, and had been planned by terrorists and had nothing to do with the video. Obama is a congenital liar, indeed.

Those who are not paying Federal Income Tax are unemployed or getting welfare checks and are unemployed. Payroll taxes are withheld by employers and paid directly to the Internal Revenue Service.

On the issue of lying, we all know that Ronmey was caught telling 27 lies in 31 minutes during the first presidential debate.

On the other hand, I don't remember Obama telling a single lie.

On the non-issue of Benghazi, Socks thinks that Obama should have used his VooDoo mojo to read the minds of the attackers and find out if they were motivated by the insult to Mohammed or were operating in the war against America.
