Apple's Jobs to give keynote at developers conference

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote address at next month's developers conference, the company said Monday.

Jobs will kick off Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a speech on June 7 at 10:00 am (1700 GMT), Apple said in a statement.

Apple is expected to formally debut its next-generation iPhone at the June 7-11 WWDC, which has attracted more than 5,000 developers of programs for Macintosh computers, the iPhone, the iPod and the iPad.

Apple typically shrouds such events in secrecy but a technology blog, Gizmodo, last month obtained and published details of the next iPhone after getting its hands on a prototype of the device.

Gizmodo is at the center of a police investigation into whether a crime was committed in obtaining the iPhone prototype, which was lost in a California beer garden by an Apple software engineer.
