Hubble finds misbehaving spiral

Despite its unassuming appearance, the edge-on spiral galaxy captured in the left half of this NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image is actually quite remarkable.

Located about one billion light-years away in the constellation of Eridanus, this striking galaxy—known as LO95 0313-192—has a shape similar to that of the Milky Way. It has a large central bulge, and arms speckled with brightly glowing gas mottled by thick lanes of dark dust. Its companion, sitting in the right of the frame, is known rather unpoetically as [LOY2001] J031549.8-190623.

Jets, outbursts of superheated gas moving at close to the speed of light, have long been associated with the cores of giant elliptical galaxies, and galaxies in the process of merging. However, in an unexpected discovery, astronomers found LO95 0313-192, even though it is a spiral galaxy, to have intense radio jets spewing out from its center. The galaxy appears to have two more regions that are also strongly emitting in the radio part of the spectrum, making it even rarer still.

The discovery of these giant jets in 2003—not visible in this image, but indicated in this earlier Hubble composite—has been followed by the unearthing of a further three spiral galaxies containing radio-emitting jets in recent years. This growing class of unusual spirals continues to raise significant questions about how are produced within , and how they are thrown out into the cosmos.

Indeed. In other words, the merger maniacs are simply more and more confused, since these observations don't fit their accretion models.

And to think otherwise leads to intellectual banishment, or even intellectual execution, from the prerequisite intellectual group think: namely adherence to the Huge Bang Fantasy model. And so, the math fairies continue to dominate the community. We see similar denials from those who deny global warming. Simply wishing it to be so, does not make it so. Follow the observations.

Giant ellipticals are a final stage of galactic growth, and so will have larger more active cores ejecting more new matter therefrom at ever faster clips. Spirals are an intermediate growth state, and will have more cyclic core activity, such as this one.

What we've yet to see much consideration of is the idea that the jets are simply an extension of the small drift current we also observe flowing into and through the galactic arms. It says more about the training programs than anything else that such straightforward ideas are ignored.

Unfortunately, the "spirals" and least of all the universe is absolutely in no way obliged to conform to your GR and Big Bang based wishful thinking.

Tuxford, if one looked at macro-cosmology as one would look at subatomic phenomena one can see the similarities between the fusion of subatomic particles to form Atoms just like it takes the fusion of galaxies for there to be substantial galactic growth. Perhaps what we see in Macrocosmology, where the energy released from the black holes after a merger of galaxies much of it stays with the galaxy in the form of the jets creating pockets or bubbles of plasma or gas at tens of millions of degrees which then cools and condenses to form it's own generation of stars, perhaps replenishing globular clusters and the like is similar to the process of atomic fusion up to the stage of Iron...perhaps we need to look at our Macrocosmological structures as if they are fractal equivalents of the conditions inside a star, so that there would be a higher density to the local macro-universe and expanding into a deeper, yet still well within infinity, Greater Void well beyond our detection range.
