Apple Computer will open its fanciest store yet on Fifth Avenue in New York on Friday -- and it will never close.

The maker of iPods and Macintosh computers said its latest store will be its "most extraordinary retail store yet ... featuring a distinctive 32-foot glass cube that creates a stunning new destination."

Moreover, the store will be open 24 hours a day.

"With outstanding service and an amazing location open 24 hours a day, we think the Apple Store Fifth Avenue is going to be a favorite destination for New Yorkers and people around the world," Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, said in a news release.

More than 100 Macs and nearly 200 iPods will be on display for customers to sample. The store will also have the largest staff of any Apple store, with nearly 300 Mac specialists.
