4 GB memory for PlayStation Portable

May 10, 2006

SanDisk has developed a 4 gigabyte memory stick that will allow Sony's PlayStation Portable to store up to 12 hours of games or other content files.

The Memory Stick PRO Duo Game card unveiled Wednesday at the E3 show in Los Angeles will ship later this month with a retail price tag of about $220.

Consumers should get their money's worth from the 4 GB stick since it can hold a large supply of different files: 64 hours of MP3 music, 20 hours of video, 4,000 still images and a dozen hours of game saves.

SanDisk Vice President Wes Brewer said the versatility matches consumer demand.

"The PSP has clearly become more than just a gaming device," said Brewer, who pointed out that the PSP has no internal memory of its own. "Users are rapidly demanding higher capacity cards."
