Sony Computer Entertainment said Wednesday it will launch the latest version of its blockbuster video game Gran Turismo 5 in November, after earlier delaying its release.

Gran Turismo 5, a driving simulator for the game console, is now set to hit North American markets on November 2. It will be released in the same month but no specific date has been set.

The latest version also comes in a three dimensional format and will be playable on 3D television screens, a company spokesman said.

The popular was originally set for release in March, but in January Sony postponed the launch indefinitely, citing production-related factors.

The highly acclaimed Gran Turismo series has sold more than 55 million units worldwide since its first release in 1997, the company said.

The last major instalment of the series hit the market in December 2007.
