Swift wireless laptop for gamers released

Two new wireless laptop computers were unveiled Tuesday that were billed as being faster than laptops that connect to fixed-line broadband.

Airgo Networks announced in Los Angeles that the Alienware Aurora m9700 and mLAX laptops would be marketed as an ideal platform for game-playing in virtually any room in the house.

"By integrating Airgo's True MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) technology directly into the Alienware Aurora m9700 and Aurora mALX notebooks, Alienware has given its audience a solution that blows everything else out of the water," said Airgo Vice President Beau Beck.

The system is built around Airgo's Gen3 True MIMO chipset and a dual graphics processor from Nvidia and provides uncompressed traffic speeds of around 140 megabits per second.

The Aurora laptops come with a 17-inch screen and are compatible with any IEEE 802.11n MIMO standards.
