Readers of British tabloid warned over cyberattack
(AP) -- A British newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch is warning some readers that their personal details may have been stolen during a cyberattack.
News International says addresses, birthdates and phone numbers of people who participated in online competitions may have been compromised during the July 19 attack on The Sun. It says no financial or password information was obtained.
Hacking group Lulz Security claimed it carried out the attack, which redirected readers to a fake story about Murdoch.
The group also claims attacks on Sony Corp. the CIA and Britain's Serious Organized Crime Agency. Police have arrested several alleged LulzSec members.
The Sun's sister tabloid, the News of the World, was closed last month after being accused of eavesdropping on voice mails.
