In Brief: Sprint offers Spanish channel service

Sprint debuted its first Spanish-language video and audio service for mobile phones in the United States Thursday.

Sprint TV En Vivo is available on select handset models that have the company's power vision network and allows users to access Spanish as well as English channels for news, entertainment and music designed for the Hispanic community.

The same content is also available on MobiTV, a provider of television and digital radio services for mobile devices.

"This cutting-edge content line-up is specifically designed to meet the interests and needs of the Hispanic community, who now comprise 14 percent of the U.S. population. This collective offering addresses a very significant audience who are considered to be major drivers and early adopters of mobile entertainment," Paul Scanlan, chief operating officer of MobiTV, said in a news release.
