Briefs: Digi debuts wired-wireless net core module

Digi International has released what it said Tuesday was the first embedded core module with wired and wireless networking capabilities.

The ConnectCore Wi-9C will allow manufacturers to design new products that will appeal to consumer preference for wired or unwired connections.

"Wireless is the future," stated Digi Vice President Joel Young. "The ConnectCore Wi-9C makes it easier for device manufacturers to meet this growing demand by providing a single secure solution for both wired and wireless networking."

The Wi-9C is based on Digi's own radio-frequency technology, which the Minnesota company said would ensure that products would not be pressured by rapid turnover of radio chipset technology.

The device's provides up to 256 megabytes of SD-RAM along with flash memory and high levels of wireless security capability.
