Rare white tiger cub dies at Czech zoo

(AP)—A rare white tiger cub born two weeks ago at a Czech zoo has died.

Ivan Langr, spokesman for the in the northern city of Liberec says an autopsy has to determine the cause of the death. Langr says the female cub born May 30 died on Friday.

White tiger triplets born in the zoo two years ago are all alive.

White tigers are the result of both parents having a recessive gene for white coloration. They are rare in the wild because they stand out in the jungle, hindering their efforts to catch prey.

The Liberec Zoo is the only one in the Czech Republic that has .
