Charitum Montes: A cratered winter wonderland

(Phys.org)—The high-resolution stereo camera on ESA's Mars Express imaged the Charitum Montes region of the Red Planet on 18 June, near to Gale crater and the Argyre basin featured in our October and November image releases.

Mars: The fractured features of Ladon basin

(Phys.org) -- ESA's Mars Express has observed the southern part of a partially buried approx. 440-km wide crater, informally named Ladon basin.

Orion drop test on Jan. 06, 2012

(PhysOrg.com) -- After six months of testing, an 18,000 pound (8,165 kg) Orion mockup took its final splash into NASA Langley Research Center's Hydro Impact Basin on Jan. 6.
