Museum says mummy was Peruvian girl who lived centuries ago

Museum officials in Ohio say medical scans of mummified remains show they are those of a girl who lived more than 500 years ago in Peru.

The Cincinnati Museum Center this week reported results of its with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to learn more about the . The mummy is part of the touring "Mummies of the World: The Exhibition" on display at the museum.

The mummy was taken to the hospital in January for X-rays and computer tomography. Officials estimate the girl was about 3 years old when she died. They couldn't determine the cause of death.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the was found sometime in the mid-20th century near El Cima. A donor gave her to the San Diego Museum of Man in 1978.
