Motorola to slash 1,900 jobs worldwide

Motorola said Wednesday it will slash 1,900 jobs worldwide in an effort to boost profits.

The mobile-phone manufacturer said the job cuts will be spread across 20 countries. One of the facilities that will be affected is Motorola's manufacturing plant in Sough Korea.

The Schaumburg, Ill.-based company's third-quarter earnings results will be announced Oct. 18.
