Briefs: Ericsson to provide broadband in Malaysia

Ericsson said Monday it will be providing a Malaysian phone provider with broadband service.

The Swedish phone group said in a news release that it will be the sole supplier to upgrade the broadband system of TIME dotCom, one of Malaysia's largest fixed-line providers, to service its network in the Klang Valley and the northern and southern parts of the country.

Ericsson's technology will allow TIME to become the first Malaysian broadband provider to user Ethernet DSL access.

"We are responding to the customers' demands for higher bandwidth and faster Internet access. This initiative to deploy high performance broadband will ensure that our customers will experience significantly improved broadband performance as well as advanced services in a cost efficient manner," stated Mohd Zamri Salleh, vice president of network services at TIME dotCom.
