Telecom deal struck for Beijing Olympics

A China Netcom Group subsidiary has entered into an agreement to provide telecom services for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

The agreement is between China Netcom Hong Kong and CNC China, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Netcom and the Beijing organizing committee. It is valued at more than $59 million.

CNC China will obtain rights to the 2008 Olympics composite logo and sponsorship rights.

China Netcom is a leading fixed-line operator in Asia.
