Your Phone. Your Mail. Your Plans. Sync it with MOTOSYNC™
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT), a global leader in wireless, broadband and automotive communications technologies, announced the debut of MOTOSYNC™, a secure, over-the-air (OTA) synchronization solution initially available with Motorola’s newly announced A780. MOTOSYNC makes the A780 capable of securely synchronizing e-mail, calendar, and contacts over-the-air to stay connected while out of the office. This end-to-end solution for corporate email and PIM synchronization will be additionally available shortly on a variety of Motorola’s mobile devices.
“MOTOSYNC provides network operators with the ability to offer their customers easy and automatic over-the-air synchronization on Motorola phones,” said Ed Zylka, general manager, Motorola’s Enterprise Solutions Group. “Motorola is launching MOTOSYNC first with the Java™ and Linux-based A780, with plans to extend corporate messaging solutions into mid-tier phones to gain more mass-market adoption of OTA synchronization.”
The MOTOSYNC solution includes an enterprise-class client application that will reside on Motorola’s new Java and Linux-based devices, a downloadable activation component and OTA provisioning software. The OTA synchronization framework utilizes standard protocols such as POP3/IMAP4/SMTP/SyncML, plus plans to offer interoperability with existing corporate email and messaging solutions through key strategic partnerships.
Additionally, as an integral part of the end-to-end MOTOSYNC solution, MOTOSYNC Provisioning Software (MPS) greatly simplifies the device configuration for end users by enabling a simple OTA configuration of end user data via a Web interface.
