Canada's Telus merges wire, wireless units
Canada's Telus is merging its wireless and landline telecom units in a move to present a better face for consumers.
The move announced Thursday will give customers a one-stop ability to handle their telecom needs, and was greeted warmly by business analysts.
"It's a very smart move, and you'll see a lot of other telcos doing this," CIBC World Markets analyst Dvai Ghose told Toronto's Globe and Mail.
The newspaper also noted that the move was part of a shake-up at Vancouver-based Telus by CEO Darren Entwistle, who stepped into the top office just a month ago following George Cope's departure to competitor Bell Canada
