BellSouth, Yahoo! collaborate on broadband

BellSouth and Yahoo! said Monday they will jointly provide a broadband service in nine southern U.S. states.

The telecom group and Internet search engine will be offering premium Yahoo! services at no extra cost to BellSouth residential broadband subscribers by the end of 2006, the companies said in a news release.

"BellSouth's alliance with Yahoo is a key part of our ongoing effort to enhance our customers' online experience," stated Keith Cowan, president of marketing and product management at BellSouth. "We are committed to offering a broadband service that exceeds customer expectations and are excited at the prospect of partnering with Yahoo to provide this new co-branded service," he added.
