Briefs: Sprint Nextel files phone fraud lawsuit
Sprint Nextel filed a lawsuit against San Marco & Associates for obtaining customer call records illegitimately.
Sprint said the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based company used false pretenses to call logs and phone numbers.
"As we dig deeper into the origins of this fraud, we've determined that, in some cases, companies with no Internet presence whatsoever are handling the dirty work for these online operations," said Kent Nakamura, chief privacy officer of the wireless carrier. "We indicated previously that we would take any action necessary to eliminate this threat, and we are following through on that promise to our customers," he added in a news release.
