Briefs: India's BSNL adds broadband connections

India's BSNL will add another 46,000 broadband connections in the coming weeks in the Goa and Maharashtra market circles.

The expansion will give Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. a total of 85,000 broadband customers in the circles and will allow the delivery of high-speed services such as Internet Protocol Television and video on demand.

Thursday's announcement came a day after state-owned BSNL said it would increase the number of connections in Gujarat.

Press Trust India said Thursday that BSNL and computer manufacturer HCL Infosystems would be offering the new broadband customers the chance to buy low-cost PCs on an installment plan.
