An Internet browser usable on a wide range of mobile phones has been developed by Norway's Opera Software.

The Opera Mini is designed to work on virtually any cell phone, including low-cost units, and can be downloaded at no charge at mini.opera.com.

The program offers a Google start page and bookmark capabilities.

This week's world launch of the browser comes after successful trials were run last fall in Scandinavia and Germany.
