Zone Labs debuts anti-spyware firewall

American security designer Zone Labs Wednesday launched what it hailed as the world's first spyware solution based on next-generation firewall technology.

The ZoneAlarm program uses three separate firewalls to keep Internet-based attacks from getting into the user's computer rather than simply trying to erase them once they establish themselves at the machine's kernel level.

"The basic foundation of any spyware prevention solution has to be the firewall, because it goes beyond reactive signature-based technologies," said Gregor Freund, chief technology officer at Check Point, the parent company of Zone Labs.

Available in six languages, ZoneAlarm stands sentry against 50,000 forms of spyware and Trojans as well as other threats such as rootkits and keyloggers.
