NEC to bolster Russian mobile-phone sales

NEC will be moving aggressively into Russia's mobile-phone market, a Japanese daily reported Wednesday.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that the Japanese electronics group will be doubling the number of handset models they will have available in Russia to more than 10 by 2006. The company first entered the market this February.

NEC will be concentrating on developing products geared specifically towards the local market through the Moscow office of NEC InfoCommunications, the Nikkei said.
