Flowers are generally zygomorphic in many lineages, with specialized corolla morphology (e.g., papilionoid in many legumes) and an often intricated androecium. Fruits are commonly legumes or dry dehiscent structures, and seeds frequently contain storage proteins and secondary metabolites relevant to ecological interactions and, in Fabaceae, major agricultural significance.
