Research news on Baryogenesis

Baryogenesis is a research area in theoretical and particle cosmology that investigates mechanisms by which a matter–antimatter asymmetry could arise in the early universe from an initially baryon-symmetric state. It focuses on constructing and analyzing models that satisfy Sakharov conditions—baryon number violation, C and CP violation, and departure from thermal equilibrium—within or beyond the Standard Model, such as electroweak baryogenesis, leptogenesis, or grand unified theory scenarios. Research addresses quantitative predictions for the baryon-to-photon ratio, connects to precision measurements of CP violation, neutrino properties, and collider constraints, and uses cosmological observations, including big bang nucleosynthesis and the cosmic microwave background, to test and constrain proposed mechanisms.
