Briefs: Telecom NZ raises most residential rates
Telecom New Zealand's first residential-line rate hike won't apply to some of the company's most popular service plans.
The NZ$2.35 ($1.63) monthly increase applies to Telecom's HomeLine and SecondLine rental schemes, but subscribers to plans such as 60s Plus and Anytime will escape the new charges as the company seeks to maintain the popularity of the plans.
"We have more than 350,000 customers on Anytime or AnyTime Plus," Telecom's Victoria Crone told the National Business Review, adding, "This way, Anytime becomes even more attractive."
Crone said about 350,000 households were enrolled in the AnyTime plans, which the newspaper said amounted to a quarter of New Zealand's population.
Crone added that keeping the AnyTime price steady would make it even more attractive to consumers.
