Briefs: Cingular, Orange in cross-Atlantic ties
Cingular Wireless and Orange SA said Tuesday they will work consolidate mobile services in the United States and Europe.
Orange is the mobile arm of France Telecom, while Cingular is one of the biggest carriers in the United States. The two companies said they will allow subscribers in Britain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States to be able to use the same online portal that will allow usage both at home and abroad through the WorldView Wireless Information Navigator.
"Cingular's new and valued relationship with Orange gives us an even greater capability to serve the needs of our multinational customers given Orange's significant presence in Europe," Joe Lueckenhoff, vice president of business mobility at Cingular, said in a news release. "This alliance gives these customers much greater cost and administrative efficiencies by consolidating their domestic and international wireless usage and managing it through a single, centralized process," he added.
