Briefs: China mobile-phone users reach 383 million

The number of China's mobile-phone subscribers topped a record 383 million last month, the government announced this week.

China's Ministry of Information Industry said the figure reflects a 48 million subscriber increase for the year and 29 phones for every 100 Chinese citizens.

Fixed-line subscriptions for the year are up nearly 37 million for the year and total 348 million as of Oct. 31.

Telecom revenue for the year is up 11.2 percent at $65.4 billion.
