Lucent Technologies will be supporting Telefonica's Internet television service rollouts worldwide.

Lucent will develop the Spanish carrier's Imagenio Internet television platform in part by establishing Internet Protocol TV research centers in the Spanish cities of Madrid and Huesca as well as Sao Paulo, Brazil, in conjunction with Bell Labs.

"This comprehensive agreement will help Telefonica remain a leading provider of innovative IPTV services," said Vicente San Miguel, general director of infrastructure and information systems at Telefonica.
