In Brief: Nokia powers Eurotel Praha's HSPDA

Czech carrier Eurotel Praha launched its first Nokia-powered high-speed downlink packet access in the country.

"With Nokia's HSDPA solution we can offer our customers download speeds twice as fast as the current fast data solution," Salvador Anglada, chief executive of Eurotel Praha, said in a news release. The service is part of a contract the Finnish group signed with Eurotel last September. Eurotel is an affiliate of Telefonica and O2.

The HSDPA system is a software upgrade to the company's WCDMA network. To date, Nokia has 58 corporate customers using WCDMA 3G.
