Briefs: Japan cybercrime rises by 52 percent

Crime in cyberspace rose by nearly 52 percent in 2005 from a year ago, Japan's police agency reported Friday.

The National Police Agency reported that the total number of crimes that abused information technology rose to 3,161.

In addition, the agency reported that the number of queries it has had to answer from the public regarding cybercrime rose by 9.2 percent from a year ago to 84,173 cases.
