Deal struck in New York Yellow Page strike

A strike by Verizon Information Services employees in New York state has been settled, the company announced Friday.

A tentative agreement has been reached with the Communications Workers of America that ends the walkout launched last Oct. 31 by workers in Manhattan, Long Island, Albany and the rest of the Empire State.

Terms of the agreement were not revealed and the deal will have to be ratified by the CWA membership, a process Verizon says will take about a week. If approved, the strikers will be back on the job Feb. 6.

The striking workers largely handle sales for Yellow Pages directories and walked out amid differences over compensation formulas and allegations of bad-faith negotiating by Verizon.
