Briefs: Stallion launches oilfield wireless system

Stallion Oilfield Services is offering a complete remote wireless package for oil installation communications in remote areas.

The Houston company says it will deploy more than 100 integrated VSAT units this year that will provide telephone, fax, intercom and Internet service to go along with its line of physical assets such as housing units and drilling equipment.

The strategy gives Stallion increased ability to establish energy-production sites with a minimum of involvement from other contractors.

"The customer can just show up and begin working at a new site," said Stallion CEO Craig Johnson. "This one-stop shop approach provides value to our customers through greater productivity at the drill site."
