Ruckus' RIOT advances home WiFi networking

Ruckus Wireless Monday unveiled an interoperability program it said improved the ability of home WiFi networks.

The RIOT (Ruckus Interoperability and Open Testing) system is designed to improve the operation of wireless Internet Protocol media devices, such as home entertainment systems, that operate on broadband.

RIOT is seen as overcoming the home WiFi reception limitations that are seen as a major obstacle to consumer acceptance of the growing number of appliances with WiFi capability.

The ultimate vision of home WiFi is allowing consumers to set up their various pieces of equipment anywhere and run them on high-speed broadband without the need for connection cables.
