Capcom to open mobile game center in LA

Los Angeles will be the home of a new division of Capcom dedicated to developing games for the mobile entertainment industry.

Capcom said Wednesday the Mobile and Interactive Division's first order of business would be releasing wireless versions of around 10 titles from its archives of electronic diversions. In the long term, the operation will work with equipment manufacturers on platforms for secured game content.

"Our main objective is to establish Capcom's new division and provide unique game play integration between wireless, online and console sectors," explained Midori Yuasa, division vice president. "Our new facility in Los Angeles will house all of our mobile and interactive media offerings."

Japan-based Capcom created popular titles such as Resident Evil, 1942 and Street Fighter.
