Quova adds online banking security layer

A Silicon Valley firm says it has added a geographical locator feature to online banking security capabilities.

Quova said in a news release it was providing geolocation capabilities to Corillian Corp's authentication solutions that allow Internet banking transactions to be traced to a specific location.

The technology gives banks a means in addition to passwords and usernames of verifying that a transaction is genuine. Data on the ISP, the country of origin and routing type can be matched up with the cyber signature of the genuine customer.

Quova said its contribution helps Corillian meet strict authentication standards set for the end of 2006 by the U.S. Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council.
