This image is packed full of galaxies! A keen eye can spot exquisite elliptical galaxies and spectacular spirals, seen at various orientations: edge-on with the plane of the galaxy visible, face-on to show off magnificent spiral arms, and everything in between.

With the charming name of SDSS J0146-0929, this is a galaxy cluster—a monstrous collection of hundreds of all shackled together in the unyielding grip of gravity. The mass of this galaxy cluster is large enough to severely distort the space-time around it, creating the odd, looping curves that almost encircle the center of the cluster.

These graceful arcs are examples of a cosmic phenomenon known as an Einstein ring. The ring is created as the light from a distant objects, like galaxies, pass by an extremely large mass, like this . In this image, the light from a is diverted and distorted around the massive intervening cluster and forced to travel along many different light paths toward Earth, making it seem as though the galaxy is in several places at once.

Not an einstein ring or any other fictional thing, it is a plasma structure.

Hahahahahahaha! Deary me. What sort of plasma structure? A ring current :)? Guess what? We can use microlensing to detect planets around other stars. We can even perform a follow up investigation that confirms that said planet is indeed there. Gravitational lensing is real, and very well evidenced.

What sort of plasma structure?

Using the highly technical jargon the plasma ignoramuses use that you too would understand, it's a "plasma bubble".

Really? And how does this come about, and where can I read about it being an alternative explanation for gravitational lensing?

(The preceding was almost certainly rhetorical.)

There is no gravitational lensing, that is pipe dream of plasma morons such as yourself.

Yes there is woo boy. As proven. If you think it's plasma woo, then point us to where it is written up.

Nothing proven, just imaginary conjecture and your need to remain relevant in the sciences as you are left in the dust with your 20th-century pinwheels and epicycles.

@cantthink69, what plasma effect do you claim distorts all frequencies of light in this manner?

Links to reliable sources in the scholarly literature please, neither crooked publishers nor whacko sites that ignore evidence will pass the smell test. Obsolete hypotheses exploded by later observations and experiments, sources that don't support your claims, and edited quotes will be discovered and pointed out to you. And you can expect that any sources you post will be rigorously examined.

Good luck with that.

Oh, you mean like most aspects of the standard theory of cosmology? Big bang, failed. GR, failed. DM, failed. Internal combustion solar model, failed. Dirty snowball, failed. Expanding Universe, failed. Needless to say, you and the standard theory acolytes have failed miserably.

@cantthink69, no ticket no laundry. Simple as that. Challenged to provide evidence you attempt to change the subject. Worse yet, you lie about what's been exploded, and about the evidence of it. That's pretty transparent, and pretty sorry.

Apr 10, 2018
I could give a rats ass about your "challenge". You're an acolyte, no matter the evidence that would be presented you still religiously believe your failed nonsense. Hell, you believe in magnetic monopoles, why would anything you have to offer be worth anything?

The ring is light waves crossing, unless compressed star light creates creates a ring of plama, distorted spacetime on the other hand creates whatever you wish.the first wish granted is distorted spacetime creating rings of light it all sounds a bit aetherishy in distorted spacetime.
