Sweden unveils new climate law, criticizes Trump

Sweden's prime minister on Thursday criticized climate skeptics within the new Trump administration and warned that all countries need to "step up and fulfill the Paris Agreement."

"The position we hear from the new administration is worrying" Stefan Lofven told The Associated Press after announcing an ambitious new climate law promising zero net emissions by 2045 and a 70-percent cut to emissions in the domestic transport sector by 2030.

The Swedish minister in charge of , Isabella Lovin, urged European countries to take a leading role in tackling , now "the U.S. is not there anymore to lead."

The new Swedish law sets long-term goals for greenhouse gas reductions and will be legally binding for future administrations.

Lovin said Sweden wanted to set an example at a time when "climate skeptics (are) really gaining power in the world again," and felt encouraged by pledges by China and India to fulfill their commitments to the Paris Agreement.

China is "investing billions and billions of dollars in solar (...) it's a game changer," she said warning that "those that are still wanting to invest in fossil fuels will be ultimately the losers."

U.S. President Donald Trump, who has called climate change a Chinese hoax, has raised speculation that he might pull the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement.

The new Swedish law enters into effect on Jan. 1, 2018. It was developed after agreement from seven out of the eight political parties in parliament.

President Bluto just set American/Australian relations back to the origins.

In another week, the only friends we will have left internationally will be Duterte, Putin, and Kim Jong Un.

The most ill conceived and counterproductive law possible.

When will these people wise up to the AGW fraud and realize that CO2 is a gift and a blessing and by increasing CO2 production we can turn this planet into the Garden of Eden it was intended to be.

About the same time we all start to use the wondrous health benefits of Cs137 with its' invigorating ionizing radiation. Then we can be the super humans we were meant to be.

America was going downhill. Fortunately, Trump is here to save the country. Even small countries were showing eye to USA, now they won't have courage to disrespect America and Americans.

Really? Just like conservatives said about Regan and the Bushes, now instead of neocon values like profits for companies- costs for society, you have fascist conservative values, obsession with nationalism, national security and the military, strangulation of the media and manipulation of the facts. How has fascism ever 'saved' a country?

Time to start digging.

Trump is emotionally unstable and tends to extremes.

Will the Trump Wars be nuclear?

Funny. Mods pretty much drove zephyr off this site for posting alternative science theories, and he knew more science than most everybody.

But they leave a flaming frothing psychopath who floods this site daily with nothing but off-topic lies and t shirt slogans.

And I would guess they generate similar traffic numbers.

IOW I dont understand why physorg seems to prefer garbage over weeds on their vacant lot.

Trump is bad, Trump is bad, etc,etc

Repeat ad nauseum and the mods here will do nothing about it.
Then again, given the repeated useless article promoting AGW that isn't really a surprise.
Here Physorg repeats similar garbage. Trumps doesn't support the paris treaty therefore trump is anti-science and evil and it is fine to call him as many names as one wants.

Further,. the swede PM hates trump, calls him a misogynist yet has no trouble making a trip to the ME and conforming to the very anti-feminist culture there.
