Pegasus does away with home stereo wires

Pegasus Wireless Wednesday introduced a wireless system that will largely eliminate the need for cables to run home entertainment systems.

The 'wirelesscables' system is a device about the size of a deck of cards that provides audio, high-definition video and streaming media signals to any display terminal without the need for cables.

The Northern California company said in a news release that the system does not require any significant installation nor any configuration and is a true "plug-and-play" device.

Pegasus President Jasper Knabb predicted consumers would be glad to get rid of the increasing number of wires needed to hook up new-generation home entertainment systems.

"By replacing the unsightly mess of wires and cables from behind the home entertainment system with a simple device that will transmit high definition signals from one display to another, this innovation opens the door for extraordinary options within the retail market that we are currently targeting," Knabb said in a news release.

Wirelesscables is scheduled for debut at next January's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
