Digital security added to U.S. nuclear lab

San Diego wireless network developer WFI has delivered a high-tech security system for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

The Tactical Survey system provides a flood of comprehensive information, maps and imagery about the entire facility where scientists work on a number of U.S. government projects, including nuclear weapons programs.

The system provides 360-degree digital images of each building on the grounds with technical data embedded in each image. In the event of an emergency, security personnel will have virtually instant access to 3-D photos, lists of key personnel, maps of entry and escape routes and many other key pieces of information.

WFI said it began the survey of more than 1 million square feet of structures in the middle of last year under funding provided by the Department of Defense's Technical Support Working Group.
