In Brief: Orange tests Paris wireless broadband
Orange has launched initial field trials of HSDPA mobile broadband service in the Paris region.
Alcatel announced Tuesday that its radio-access solution was a key component of the system that will enable very-high-speed Internet access and rapid downloading of wireless video content.
"We are confident that Alcatel's continuous support and world class technology will help us in building out and operating our network efficiently, as well as in enabling us to cost-effectively introduce innovative and revenue-generating HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) services later this year," Orange Vice President Vivek Bradinath said in a news release.
Alcatel said its Evolium HSDPA solution delivers the optional 16QAM modulation of up to 14.4 megabits per second with average user data throughput of around 2 to 3 Mbps.
