Sprint is expanding its broadband network, which currently provides over half the U.S. population with mobile broadband data services.

By the end of this year the carrier plans to reach about 190 million people across the United States, which would make it the largest mobile network. Currently, its power vision network covers over 150 million people, including 470 airports nationwide.

"Sprint has an aggressive plan for mobile broadband leadership ... given the importance of high-speed data services as a revenue source, this is a bold and rewarding move," said Gene Signorini, director of wireless and mobile enterprise solutions at researchers the Yankee Group.
